ENTP: use debate to study without losing accuracy

The ENTP collection · Passion Psycho · Lire en français
Two adults compare imaginative paper prototypes.

Discussing a theory can make studying more engaging. Defending several positions, however, does not ensure accurate understanding. A useful study debate distinguishes what the course says from the objection you are proposing.

Establish common ground

Before debating, everyone writes a short definition and checks its terms in the material. Choose a bounded question, such as the limitations of one research method. If participants unknowingly use different definitions, the discussion may concern a misunderstanding rather than the concept itself.

Change positions with a clear purpose

First explain the method’s value, then present a documented limitation. The aim is not to win on both sides but to identify what each argument supports. Record the objection’s source and distinguish criticism of a procedure from rejection of an entire theory. A memorable phrase cannot replace justification.

Leave a written record

Finish with an individual answer without notes: definition, example and limitation. Compare it with the course. This shows what remains available when the group stops supplying prompts. The format may appeal to you if you identify with ENTP, but it is not a learning method validated for this type. Adapt it to the assessment.

Try it in practice

Spend fifteen minutes on one question: three defining, six discussing, three writing alone and three checking. Identify one improved understanding and one confusion introduced by the debate. Keep the format only if the final answer becomes more precise.
